Norwalk, CT – Bitmine Immersion Technologies (NYSE: BMNR) reported on Monday, 2026-10-26, that its total holdings, encompassing cryptocurrency, cash, and strategic investments, dipped to approximately $15 billion. This decline occurred despite the company’s acquisition of 10,452 Ether (ETH) in the week leading up to 2026-10-25.
Chairman Thomas “Tom” Lee attributed the overall valuation drop to broader “risk off” market forces impacting both crypto and traditional tech sectors. The latest financial update from the Norwalk, Connecticut-based firm underscores volatility inherent in digital asset management.
Buy Thomas Lee explains Bitmine’s persistent Ethereum accumulation
In the week through 2026-10-25, Bitmine Immersion Technologies successfully added 10,452 ETH to its reserves. This latest acquisition lifted its total Ether holdings to 6,051,933 ETH, as the company pursues its “Alchemy of 5%” goal.
These holdings now represent 4.95% of Ether’s 122.2 million circulating supply, leaving Bitmine just 58,000 ETH short of its ambitious 5% target. Chairman Lee has consistently stated that Bitmine has bought ETH every week since launching its Ether Treasury Strategy on 2025-06-30.
The valuation of Bitmine’s Ether alone stood at approximately $14.3 billion, calculated using a Coinbase price of $2,356 per ETH as of 2 p.m. ET on 2026-10-25. This contrasts with a previous week, when Bitmine reported $15.1 billion in total holdings with Ether priced at $2,365.
The current dip in overall value, despite continued ETH accumulation, clearly highlights the impact of price fluctuations on crypto treasury companies. Weekly ETH purchases have seen a varied pace throughout 2026, influencing its path to the 5% target. This shift in purchasing volume occurs as broader market conditions continue to influence cryptocurrency valuations.
Market volatility and Lee’s bullish outlook
Chairman Lee attributed the recent dip in crypto markets to the same “risk off” forces that affected the artificial intelligence (AI) sector. He drew a direct parallel, noting that crypto had been “pulled down by the same ‘risk off’ forces behind the AI sell-off.”
Despite this, Lee remains resolutely bullish on the crypto market’s trajectory, emphasizing its comparative resilience. He highlighted that Ether’s 13% fall from its recent peak was notably shallower than the 20% decline seen in US semiconductor stocks, as tracked by the $SOXX index.
“We believe this is further evidence that a crypto bull market is underway,” Lee declared in Monday’s release. This perspective aims to reassure investors that recent declines are merely temporary setbacks within a larger upward trend for digital assets.
The total holdings value had previously reached $17.4 billion three weeks prior to 2026-10-26, when Ether was trading around $2,726. The subsequent drop to $15 billion, despite the addition of 35,519 ETH in that period, effectively wiped out $2.4 billion in stated value due to the price decline to $2,356.
Cash and marketable securities also saw a reduction, falling from $582 million to $514 million over the week. Similarly, Bitmine’s stake in Eightco Holdings decreased from $117 million to $76 million, a substantial 35% decline.
Strategic share repurchases and shareholder value
Beyond its crypto holdings, Bitmine Immersion Technologies has actively engaged in share repurchases. This signals management’s confidence in the company’s intrinsic value and commitment to returning capital to shareholders.
In the same week that its total holdings dipped, the company spent approximately $45.9 million to buy back 2.04 million shares at an average price of $22.48 each. This move directly benefits shareholders by reducing the outstanding share count.
Year-to-date in 2026, Bitmine has repurchased a substantial 22.9 million common shares, totaling $399.6 million at an average price of $17.48 per share. Chairman Lee underscored the significance of these buybacks.
Lee called the 2026 total “the largest crypto treasury company common equity buyback ever executed.” He reiterated that repurchases occur “when management believes Bitmine shares are relatively undervalued,” reflecting a strategic approach. Bitmine’s strategy of holding a significant digital asset treasury is often compared to MicroStrategy’s approach, a firm also known for maintaining substantial crypto reserves.
Expanding Ethereum staking and revenue potential
Bitmine continues to expand its significant Ethereum staking operations, a crucial component of its revenue generation strategy. The amount of staked ETH rose to 5,227,037 tokens from 5,067,309 a week earlier.
This now represents about 86% of the company’s total Ether holdings, with this staked portion alone valued at approximately $12.3 billion. The company leverages its proprietary MAVAN (Made in America VAlidator Network) for institutional-grade staking.
Bitmine also collaborates with external partners to maximize its staking efficiency and reach. Lee projected that staking all of Bitmine’s ETH holdings could yield about $368 million annually at a 2.58% seven-day yield.
This represents a significant increase from the $318 million annualized revenue currently generated from the Ether already staked. The commitment to staking provides a consistent revenue stream for Bitmine, independent of direct ETH price appreciation.
As institutional interest in staking grows, Bitmine’s early and substantial investment in this area positions it to capitalize on evolving market dynamics. The continued rise in staked ETH reflects a broader industry trend towards passive income generation within the crypto space.
Outlook: nearing the 5% ETH goal
Bitmine Immersion Technologies is now tantalizingly close to its self-imposed “Alchemy of 5%” goal, being just 58,000 ETH shy of owning 5% of the total Ether supply. Reaching this threshold will mark a pivotal moment for its strategy.
Chairman Lee has indicated the company intends to pause further ETH purchases once the target is met. This shift would likely refocus the company’s efforts towards optimizing existing holdings, maximizing staking yields, and enhancing shareholder value.
The company also holds other notable assets beyond its core ETH treasury, diversifying its overall portfolio. These include 215 Bitcoin, a $180 million stake in Beast Industries, and a $76 million stake in Eightco Holdings.
Additionally, Bitmine maintains a cash and marketable securities reserve of $514 million. The company’s long-term vision, supported by its consistent ETH accumulation and strategic financial moves, aims to solidify its position in the digital asset space. The evolving landscape of digital asset management requires continuous adaptation and strategic decision-making from companies in this sector.
